CENTURY NUTRITION

Dr. Hulda Regehr Clark

CENTURY NUTRITION s. Der.L.DE.C.V operates the nutritional consulting clinic in Tijuana, Mexico.  The clinic follows the protocols and nutritional modalities of Dr. Hulda Clark.  On February 16, 2001, the clinic was closed down by the Baja California (Mexican) State Health Department in Mexicali, Mexico (almost 100 miles away) without court order to do so or prior notice of any violation.  This is a state,  not federal, governmental action.  Several weeks would pass until the Health Department provided a written statement as to the specific nature of the charges.  And, that came only after a court order to do so by a Mexican Federal Judge. Dr. Clark has engaged a team of top level Mexican lawyers, along side the Law Offices of Carlos F. Negrete, to dispute the basis for the closure and to reopen the clinic.

Many other alternative medicine clinics have also come under attack at the same time and are going through similar processes.  Investigations are being conducted into the source of these unconstitutional unexplained local governmental actions.

When analyzing the actions of the Mexicali government officials, it is important to note that the Mexican legal system is vastly different from that which is enjoyed by citizens of the United States, and most other countries for that matter.  First of all, in Mexico, when you are charged with any wrongdoing you are deemed guilty until proven innocent.  They exact opposite of what we are accustomed to.  So, a Mexican government official can lodge charges against an entity and it would have the burden of proving them false.

However, in Century Nutrition's case, Health Department did not even bother to formally set forth charges until they were ordered by a federal judge.  Those charges have been challenged as being unconstitutional, fatally vague and without basis.

As of this date, the Health Department refuses to state exactly what the specific facts are supporting the charges imposed.  Then, the Heath Department has imposed maximum fines (in unprecedented amounts).  Dr. Clark has refused to pay the unjustified fines, or any other money for that matter, and has, instead, taken her challenge to the closure to the federal court in Mexico.  Dr. Clark has stated that she will not be "shaken down" for unwarranted and illegal "mordida" payments.  Dr. Clark has stated that:  "At my stage in life, it is more important to fight an injustice than to just pay some ransom to escape from false charges."

Dr. Clark's legal team has vigorously asserted that the closure was unconstitutional and without basis and are confident that this injustice will soon be corrected.
